Usage & Dosage Recommendations:-

NatureGuard is ideal for poultry and all types of birds (both domestic and wild), is easy to use and extremely effective.

For the treatment of mites, fleas and lice etc., dust all around the inside of the houses/cotes and nest boxes.  Make sure to dust along the perches (particularly where they meet the sides) inside and under nest boxes (if removable), over the floor and up the walls, making sure all nooks & crannies are covered.  Red mites are particularly disabling to chickens and they soon lose condition and go off laying if there is an infestation in the hen house.  Use a soft hand-brush to work over the surfaces and into the corners and crevices. A surprisingly small amount of powder actually goes a long way.

If possible & practical, dust NatureGuard directly onto the bird and work into the feathers.  However, as all birds love a dust bath, sprinkling NatureGuard into the dust hollows they like to use is the simplest and easiest way of ensuring they are protected against mites, fleas & ticks.  Dust baths may need replenishing after very wet and rainy conditions as NatureGuard works best dry.

Due to its extremely dehydrating nature, it is recommended that gloves be worn if applying large amounts of NatureGuard by hand, as it may cause the skin to become dry.  It is advisable to not  inhale large quantities of diatomaceous powder, as in some cases it may cause irritation.  Wear a face-mask if using in a confined space.

For the control of intestinal worms use the following formula:-

All Birds:

2% of feed weight

Chickens: Same as above or 1 teaspoon of NatureGuard per chicken.  Coat their pellets/grain with a  little vegetable oil to absorb the powder (although mine love mashed potato, with which it mixes easily).

As NatureGuard is gentle, natural and non-chemical, a more regular regime is recommended as opposed to the massive-dose “quick fix” of chemical medication.  For the first week, feed the above advised amounts once a day, thereafter once-a-week should be sufficient as a shield against intestinal parasites.  You cannot overdose with NatureGuard as it is extremely tolerable and perfectly safe, even in high quantities.

My two chickens, Rhodi and Shadow, live very healthy, happy lives using NatureGuard in their hen-house, food and dust baths.  I never give them any other medication, they are never sick or ill and they lay lovely, large, delicious-tasting eggs almost every day.
